What People Are Saying

“Greg Evigan has spent decades on stage and screen, but his new album (Greg Evigan with London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) makes a strong case that his most compelling work is happening right now….Tracks like ‘Breath That Runs Through’ and ‘Tears Like Rain’ land with the kind of melodic weight that holds up well on repeat.” – Eric Alper, SiriusXM

“Listening to the entire album, I am blown away. I hear bits of what might be Tony Banks (Genesis) and maybe some Michael Kamen, but most of all I hear beautiful music. A co-worker heard the music and asked about it, and I was thrilled to say ‘That’s Greg Evigan.’ Well done. I look forward to more.” – online review on Bandcamp

FILM, TV AND STAGE:

Greg Evigan launched his career on New York’s Broadway stage in the original touring company of Jesus Christ Superstar. He understudied Jesus and performed as Annas for a year on the road before returning to Broadway for another year with the production.

While starring in Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway, he auditioned for—and landed—the lead role of Danny Zuko in the hit musical Grease. The New York Times featured a before-and-after photo spread and article showcasing Greg’s transformation from long-haired Jesus to greaser Danny Zuko.

At age 22, with two major Broadway credits under his belt, Greg earned respect as a young actor and singer. He then auditioned for—and won—the role of Cliff in the Don Kirshner/Norman Lear/Neil Bogart series A Year at the Top, co-starring Paul Shaffer (later of The David Letterman Show). This landed him in California, where he filmed the pilot, five episodes, and recorded an album of songs he wrote and performed. Though short-lived, the show fueled his passion for music, writing, and performing.

Greg took on freelance gigs, including a Coca-Cola commercial and the prestigious Ringo Starr Special—not many get to share the screen with a Beatle! Yet steady work eluded him, and he nearly returned to Broadway when one final audition changed everything: the lead role of BJ McKay in BJ and the Bear. The pilot drew a 47 Nielsen share—nearly half the country tuned in—propelling Greg to stardom with appearances on The Johnny Carson Show, Merv Griffin, The Dinah Shore Show, and covers in TV Guide, People, Teen Beat, and more.

Feeling typecast as a teen idol, Greg pivoted with My Two Dads, co-starring Paul Reiser as eccentric artist Joey Harris. The show won a People’s Choice Award in its first season, ran three years (producing 65 episodes for syndication), and featured Greg’s co-written theme song, “You Can Count on Me.”

Greg starred in 13 TV series total, with standout lead roles including:

• Jake Cardigan in TekWar (with William Shatner)
• Danny in Masquerade (with Kirstie Alley)
• Cody Powell in P.S. I Luv U (with Connie Sellecca)

In 1994, he earned an Emmy® nod for rogue cop Charlie Lloyd in the TV movie One of Her Own.

Theatrical highlights include DeepStar Six (as Kevin McBride with Nia Peeples and Miguel Ferrer, produced by Sean S. Cunningham of Friday the 13th fame—one of three underwater thrillers alongside The Abyss and Leviathan) and Roger Corman’s Stripped to Kill (as Detective Heineman with Kay Lenz, opening doors to edgier roles).

Overall, Greg boasts 19 theatrical films, 30 + TV movies, 100 + guest-star TV appearances, themes he sang for three series, and the co-written My Two Dads theme. Full filmography: IMDb.com.
